Closure FAQ For Parents

The UTC offers a unique curriculum that other schools fail to offer – where can my child finish his education?

If your child is in Year 10 – we will work with individual students and parents to help them find another school that can offer a similar curriculum to that provided by the UTC.  We will do all we can to ensure they are settled in their new school as soon as possible, in order that the impact on their learning is minimised.  We are here to help start discussions with other schools however if you wish to commence discussions directly then please let us know so we can keep track and help support you.

We are also investigating the possibility of Daventry UTC students transferring to Silverstone UTC.  We will notify parents as soon as we can if this becomes a realistic possibility.

If your child is in Year 11 or Year 13 –then we would strongly encourage you to leave them at the UTC to complete their GCSEs, BTECs and A Levels until 21st July 2017. Our staff know our students well and already have programmes of work in place to maximise their exam result outcomes.  After Christmas we will introduce a new timetable for all students to increase their contact time with staff further.  Your help at this time to encourage them to work hard and not lose heart because the UTC is closing is vital – the next 6 months is absolutely critical to their educational success.

If your child is in Year 12 – If your child is undertaking L2 qualifications then we strongly recommend that they stay at the UTC until the end of 2017 to complete their qualification, then transfer to alternative provision to continue their post 16 studies. If your child is undertaking L3 qualifications we recommend that they transfer to alternative provision as soon as possible to enable them to complete their two-year course. We will be investigating Further Education colleges within the county that offer a similar curriculum to the UTC, albeit in a Post 16 setting.  We will explain this in more detail on an individual basis.

I want to have a face to face discussion about options for my child with the Principal. When can I come in?

Please call the Principal's assistant on 01327 877684 and she will arrange for you to meet the Principal, the Deputy Principal or one of the Senior Leadership team to discuss your specific needs or concerns. Please make an appointment before you travel.
