Cummins – our Industry Partner has donated a fantastic brand new learning resource to our UTC and it has arrived today!
Cummins K2000E is a Vee 16 engine with a mesmerizing displacement of 50.25 liters and producing astonishing 2000 hp. Our students are now able to experience first – hand this great engineering achievement. The engine has been specially adapted to allow to see its internal components in order to provide a better understanding of how engines work and the science and engineering behind it.
Our Principal said: ‘We are extremely grateful for Cummins to supply us with this unique and priceless learning resource. Cummins take a very active role as an Industry Partner of our UTC, they spend a lot of their time with our students making sure that they are career-ready after their studies at our UTC. Many of our students are now applying for apprenticeships in their local factory.
We have now got this huge engine which Cummins have shipped for us all the way from America, making it quite a logistical challenge.’
We now want to bring this latest learning resource closer to the local community and use it to promote STEM subjects – science, technology, engineering and mathematics, by being able to apply theory into practice.
- Visit our gallery to see more pictures of the engine and it's final stage of the journey, all the way from America.
Please come to our Open Event on Thursday, 24th November from 16:00 until 18:00 where the Cummins engine will be officially unveiled to the public. Visitors will be able to meet Cummins employees who will be there to share many interesting facts about the engine, engineering and to answer any questions about future careers.
